House Assistant Minority Whip Richard Brown has served Ohio’s 20th House District since he was appointed in June of 2017 and won re-election in both 2018 and 2020. Since taking office, Brown has focused on education, economic development and veteran issues, while working within the district to create the best possible environment for families and job growth.
In addition to his time in the legislature, Rep. Brown has been an attorney in private practice for over 36 years, with a concentration in civil litigation. Brown is also a member of the American Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, Columbus Bar Association, Defense Research Institute and Columbus Claims Association, and he was selected as “Best Lawyer” by Columbus CEO Magazine from 2010-2017.
Rep. Brown has lived in Canal Winchester for over twenty years, where he and his wife raised their three children. Brown received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati, followed by his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
