Bride Rose Sweeney is a lifelong Cleveland-native and graduate of John Carroll University, where she studied political science, business, and leadership.
After completing her undergraduate degree, Bride was selected to join the 2015 Ohio Legislative Service Commission Fellowship Program, a public service internship program sponsored by the nonpartisan agency that drafts, researches, and writes state laws. Bride later worked as a legislative staffer for several members of the Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus, including the Minority Leader.
As a legislative staffer, she oversaw many committee activities, drafted speeches, constituent materials and helped craft new legislation. Her experience working as a staff member in the legislature solidified her desire to become a real fighting advocate for Ohio’s working middle class families, women and children, and those in underserved communities.
Bride believes that all kids deserve access to quality public education, no matter where they live. She also supports initiatives to create good paying jobs, ensure workers have equal bargaining rights, restore the state’s local government fund and to protect and expand women’s access to comprehensive healthcare. She will fight to bring more resources to school districts and support the needs of our teachers, students, and staff.
Bride Rose Sweeney is the first woman elected to represent the 14th House District, which includes part of Cleveland, Brooklyn, Brook Park, Parma Heights, and Middleburg Heights, and is the youngest state lawmaker in the House Democratic Caucus.
Rep. Sweeney also serves on the House Commerce and Labor, Finance, Finance Subcommittee on Higher Education and Insurance Committees.
