Ginny Favede
Ginny Favede is a committed, energetic leader with a track record of success in Eastern Ohio. And she wants to bring her passion for the 95th Ohio House District and its people to the Ohio Statehouse.
Ginny has served for the past eight years as a Belmont County Commissioner and is the President of the Board of Commissioners. Over the past seven years, Ginny has helped foster an economic environment that has brought jobs and development to Belmont County. Under Ginny’s leadership, Belmont County – along with Marshall and Ohio Counties of WV – was noted as the fifth-fastest growing economy in the nation.
Ginny is a dedicated public servant and natural leader. She serves on numerous local, statewide and national community development organizations on behalf of Eastern Ohioans.
- Recently appointed to a national leadership position where she serves as the Vice Chair of Community, Economic and Workforce Development Committee, supporting federal policies and resources that spur economic development and competitiveness at the local level
- 2nd Vice President of the County Commissioners Association of Ohio Executive Board of Directors
- Chairwoman of the Belmont County Land Reutilization Corporation, an organization she helped establish to reduce local blight and help increase property values
- Serves on the Belmont County Transportation Improvement District, which is currently overseeing a $21.4 million dollar project that will reduce traffic congestion and increase economic development opportunities in the country
- Past president and member of the St. Clairsville Downtown Revitalization Task Force
Favede is a legislative leader on the issues surrounding the oil and gas industry. Favede represented the State of Ohio at the National Association of Counties National Shale Energy Conference, leads a regional impacted counties initiative and co-founded the Belmont County Oil and Gas Expo serving to make Belmont County the epicenter of the burgeoning oil and gas industry.
In 2011, Favede collaborated with Job & Family Services and the Board of Disabilities to establish Harmony House, a children’s advocacy center, to improve the community’s response to child abuse.
Prior to serving as County Commissioner, she was twice elected as a Councilwoman for the City of St. Clairsville.
Ginny is active in the community. She is a leader of St. Mary’s Church, member of the St. Clairsville Noon Rotary, past president and sustaining member of the Junior League of Wheeling and past president and member of the Ohio State University Alumni Club of Belmont County.
The only child in her family of ten to attend college, Ginny is a graduate of The Ohio State University, where she earned a BA in Political Science. Ginny and her husband, Dr. Lee Favede, reside in St. Clairsville with their two children, Cecelia and Frankie.
