Bobby McDowall

Bobby McDowall showed an interest in public service from a young age.  He walked in his first political parade at age 5.  While still in grade school, he walked door to door for a presidential candidate.  In high school, he continued his involvement by helping with local and national campaigns and state petition drives.

Upon graduating from Mogadore High School, Bobby enrolled at The University of Akron majoring in political science. In 2013, Bobby was elected to a position on the Mogadore Village Council.  He got to work right away, addressing critical infrastructure needs at the community’s Lion’s Park.  He has worked to build consensus around several issues, including legislation to crack down on vacant and abandoned homes in the village and technological upgrades to link community residents with their representatives.

Meanwhile, Bobby continued to work on his college degree, earning a B.A. in Political Science in 2014. Re-elected to Mogadore Council in 2015, Bobby was selected to chair the Planning & Zoning Committee which will oversee the redevelopment of a large tract of land (a former golf course) in the community. Bobby also serves on the finance and utilities committees.

During Bobby’s service on Mogadore Council, and despite crippling cuts to municipal funding from the state government, Mogadore has been able to maintain all of its services to the residents without raising taxes. Bobby is proud of the progress Mogadore has made during his time on Council, and he now wants to take his problem solving skills to Columbus.
